[Online] tech.fast: Well' I didn't see that coming! (Co-host IxDF)

Join us for a fun, light-hearted, and eye-opening (pun intended!) journey through the world ofdesign as I share my personal story of becoming a visually impaired designer. I’ll be talking about what it’s like to navigate the design world with a vision impairment, how it’s transformed the way I think about design and accessibility, and why inclusive design isn’t just important—it’s essential.

Introduction
Design shapes the way we interact with the world—but what happens when the world isn’t designed for you? After losing half my field of vision, I had to navigate both life and my career as a visually impaired designer. In this talk, I’ll share how my experience changed the way I see design (literally and figuratively), why accessibility and inclusive design are essential, and how designing with disability in mind leads to better solutions for everyone. Expect real insights, some laughs, and a fresh perspective on what it truly means to design for all.

What you will learn
● What it’s like to be a Product Designer and navigate the design world with a vision impairment.
● About the different types of disabilities affecting more than a billion people globally.
● The importance of accessible, inclusive design.
● How to design from a source of truth and empathy to solve user challenges effectively.
● The benefits and potential risks with using AI in design.

You will take away
You will walk away from this session with a deeper understanding of the different types of disabilities and how real-world accessibility challenges shape better design solutions, learning from first hand life experience how disability impacts people’s daily lives. You'll discover practical strategies to create more inclusive products that benefit everyone and explore why designing with and for people with disabilities leads  to smarter, more impactful innovation.

Whether you’re a designer or just curious about how to make your products more user-friendly, this talk will inspire you to see the world of design differently. You’ll no doubt walk away with a fresh perspective on how good design can make a huge impact for everyone—whether they have 20/20 vision or not! Don’t miss out-let’s make the world more inclusive, one design at a time.
