The grey areas of UX: the psychology of dark patterns

From everyday interface choices to online manipulation.

A practical introduction to dark patterns from a UX/UI perspective. This workshop explores how everyday interface choices can influence what users notice, understand and choose.

We'll touch on the psychology behind these patterns, looking at how design can affect attention, trust and ultimately decision-making. Through practical examples, we'll explore the grey area between persuasive design and patterns that may confuse, pressure, or mislead users.

The session invites designers to look at digital experiences more critically and to reflect on how small design decisions can be approached with more awareness.

Join us for a morning filled with inspiration, practical insights, and engaging discussions. We’ll provide the breakfast, the company, and the knowledge — all at no cost.

UX/UI Design Consultant

I am an eclectic designer combining an academic background in psychology, criminology, and forensic science with professional experience across customer-facing training and leadership roles. My path has always been shaped by curiosity about people: how they think, behave, trust, decide, and navigate complex situations.

By bringing together analytical thinking, human behaviour, and digital design, I love to help shape experiences that are thoughtful and aware of the people behind the screen.
